We had officially been living in our house for 6 weeks when we decided to tackle our guest room renovation. We had started other projects in our home (and more posts to follow up on that), but we hadn't fully competed any rooms However, we haven't completed any rooms to the fullest as we still settle in our new so the guest room was the first fully finished project!
We also had good reason to finish up the guest room: my in-laws were visiting us, and we really wanted a space that felt refreshed and completed. We also knew from previous experience that we could finish the room in a few days.
This is where we started: a horrible bank beige room with no personality. We threw the furniture in here while moving in and left it neglected otherwise:
We cleaned up the room and started with a fresh blank bank beige slate. Our whole house was repainted this color. While I detest it, it's less funky than the lime green the room was originally painted, which we found out while looking at the old outlets.
I then hit with a fresh coat of paint on the ceiling and the walls. Belle, my sassy pugapoo, was helping in the background.
And now onto the final product
We gave the guest room a whole top to bottom makeover:
I am absolutely in love with this room. I feared the dark, moody paint, but it compliments this space (and bonus! gets rid of some of that awful bank beige!) The inspiration for this whole room ended up being the over-sized canvas artwork from Kirkland's. I bought it and was completely inspired by it.
I also have to thank the local Nashvillian who noticed that canvas art wouldn't fit in my car so she loaded it up in her Suburban and drove it back to my house. True Southern hospitality.
